Bachelor of Arts in Tourism and Hotel Management
The primary objective of the Bachelor program in Tourism & Hotel Management is to produce skilled manpower and competent personnel well trained to meet the demand of the Tourism sector. Since, Tourism is a profitable sector both for Private and Government undertakings, there is a high demand world-wide for professional degree in this sector. Responding to this demand, IBAIS University has entered into collaborative arrangement with the University of Bedfordshire, UK; Bangkok University, Thailand; College of Tourism & Hotel Management, Cyprus; City of London College, UK; The Institute of Hospitality Management, Ireland, institutions known for their rich academic standard for this kind of Professional Education.
The program focuses on hotel operational skills, management practice in the tourism and hospitality industry. It also offers a variety of exciting activities to enrich students’ academic and practical experience including local and overseas training. We have full-time teachers and professionals who are experts in various sectors of the tourism and hospitality industry, to provide individual academic and professional training advice.

Admission Requirements:
Every applicant, without any exception, must fulfill the admission requirements as laid down by IBAIS University. Admission test and interview for admission into the first trimester will be held three times a year. No interim or supplementary admission test or interview will be arranged.
A higher secondary certificate or its equivalent in Science, Humanities, Commerce or other fields of study is the basic educational requirement. Minimum qualifying GPA to be eligible to apply is 2.5 individually in SSC/“O” level and HSC/“A” level examinations.
Students having Bachelor (Pass)/Associate/Diploma (2-4 years) degree will get waiver from the General Education courses.
For all foreign certificates, the University as per rules of Bangladesh Government will determine equivalence.

This Bachelor program is subdivided as follows:
- First Year – Freshman Year
- Second Year – Sophomore Year
After completing First Year and Second Year (65 credit hour courses), an Associate Degree will be awarded in Tourism and Hotel Management by IBAIS University.
- Third Year – Junior Year
- Fourth Year – Senior Year
After completing First, Second, Third & Fourth Years (135 credit hour courses), Bachelor Degree will be awarded in Tourism and Hotel Management.

Students are required to enroll in ILB100 Study Skills*, Arts Appreciation* and courses in each of following areas: Humanities and Language; Social Sciences; Mathematics and Science; and Physical Education and Recreation in order to fulfill the requirement. IHT 450 Dissertation (6 credit hours)
All BTHM candidates should complete supervised study and research culminating in a dissertation in their fields of specialization. The completed dissertation should be well-bound and printed in accordance with the regulations of IBAIS University.
BTHM Waiver Policy:
To apply for BTHM credit waiver, a student must have an average grade of C+ or better and courses must have been taken within the past 5 (five) years. Students having Bachelor (Pass)/Associate/Diploma (2-4 years) degree or 4 years work experience in relevant fields after HSC will get waiver according to this waiver policy.
